Being Young and Having Breast Cancer

Having breast cancer sucks as a general rule, and it sucks a whole lot when you’re young. Some women are still in college, working two jobs and eating healthy and exercising when they receive the diagnosis. Some have young children or haven’t had any children yet.

Having to suddenly put the brakes on your whole life can be frustrating and disheartening. It can make you question why this is happening to you (I’m not even old!). But it happens. More often than it should. Suddenly you’re whisked up in doctor’s appointments and your focus is on your health more than anything else.¬†There are many young women as young as 23 who have been diagnosed with breast cancer.
